The Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 won the Targa Florio race around the island of Sicily on public roads. The "8C" was designed by Hungarian Engineer Vitorio Jano, who also built cars for Lancia and Ferrari. In 1932, 1933 and 1934 it won the thousand mile race from Brescia to Rome and back again in a single day. The "8C" could do 200 kilometres per hour and was considered the fastest car in Europe in its period.
